Los Angeles (CNN) — R&B superstar Beyonce Knowles has parted ways with her father as her manager, with both sides claiming it was amicable.

“I’ve only parted ways with my father on a business level,” Beyonce said in a statement Monday. “He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me.”

Matthew Knowles had managed her daughter’s career from her start in the multi-platinum selling trio, Destiny’s Child, in the late 1990s through her phenomenal success as a solo artist: three blockbuster solo CDs, 16 Grammy awards and appearances in well-received movies, such as “Dreamgirls.”

“The decision for Beyonce and Music World Entertainment to part was mutual,” Matthew Knowles said. “We did great things together, and I know that she will continue to conquer new territories in music and entertainment.” Read more »

At least 56 people died and 98 others were wounded when armed men assaulted and seized the building in Tikrit, the capital of Salaheddin Province in northern Iraq. The armed militants, clad in police uniforms, clashed with the Iraqi police, and a suicide car bombing also was reported in the fighting. Read more »

An Exclusive Interview with Lindsey Christian

Posted in Conversation Piece on March 22, 2011 by mymorningjoe
MyDailyJoe (Associated Content/Yahoo) introduces you to the multi-talented and multi-dimensional Lindsey Christian, aka Chris, with an exclusive up close and personal interview.

MDJ: We’re right here with female artist Chris. In 2008 you established Soblu Music Group. What was the first move to be made immediately after you established the company?

Chris: It really spawned from the need to put out the soundtrack [Jazz in the Diamond District] for the film we were working on of the same title. That was the first project we put out on the label.

MDJ: Is there anything you would have done different during the upstart of Soblu?

Chris: Is that a trick question (laughs). There are a lot of things I should have done differently. I feel that way about every venture I have started. I am a perfectionist so I always find flaws in what I do. But without the mistakes you can’t really learn and grow. So in that sense, I wouldn’t change anything.

MDJ: It’s almost like you had so much going on that Soblu was necessary. You had to create it.

Chris: Because everything we were doing was in the entertainment industry, it made sense to just keep expanding what we could do in-house. Even with the talent management arm that we started, we were working with so many talented people and we wanted to work with some of them and really bridge the gap between them and the industry. So everything really just
developed naturally.

MDJ: Speaking of the film, you co-wrote and directed it in 2009. What was that experience like? Read more »

U.S. ambassador to Mexico resigns after public spat

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – The U.S. ambassador to Mexico has resigned after a public dispute with President Felipe Calderon over the handling of the war against Mexico’s powerful drug gangs.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Saturday that she and President Barack Obama had accepted Ambassador Carlos Pascual’s resignation “with great reluctance.”

The announcement came as a surprise just as Obama began a five-day trip to Latin America, where he is visiting El Salvador, Brazil and Chile, to shore up ties with the region.

The United States and Mexico have long lauded their close economic ties and cooperation on security issues, with more than $1 billion in U.S. aid being funneled to Mexican forces to battle the drug cartels.

But a diplomatic fight erupted after State Department documents published by WikiLeaks showed Pascual criticizing Mexican authorities’ lack of coordination in operations targeting cartel leaders.

Calderon lashed out in an unusually critical newspaper interview on February 22, saying Pascual had shown “ignorance” and distorted what was happening in the country. Read more »
