Well we are actually from Portmore, Jamaica. We draw musical influences from every genre of music: Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Super Cat, Heavy D, Celine Dion, R. Kelly, Eurhythmics, Ritchie Valens, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Vybz Kartel. We admire and feel inspired by artists who have the ability to write, entertain, and improvise. Being able to create and perform spontaneously is truly amazing. It’s definitely a “wow” factor. We pull a lot of inspiration from artist with that quality.
MYDJ: What’s it been like to share the stage with such international superstars like Sean Paul, Shaggy, Beenie Man, and others?
It was a great experience and gave us a boost of confidence. We was there performing alongside the artist that we listened to as youngsters! It’s a phenomenal feeling. We took everything there was to take from that experience. We decided we had to work really hard to supersede their success. Those guys are amazing and good at what they do. We wanted to be better so we knew we would have to work harder, put in a lot of time and dedication.

We want the mainstream media to accept Dancehall as a mainstream genre. That’s the overall goal we hope to achieve with Pop-Tois. As for SK, our overall career goal is to become household names both nationally and abroad. Our fans are very important to us and they are an extension to getting us where we are and where we’re going. We will continue to put out the best music. Our goal is to pack stadiums, inspire generations, and reach as many people as we can through our music…
MYDJ: What advice would you give to other up and coming artists who want to pursue a career in music?
I would say be honest with yourself about your abilities and trust people that are experienced and who know music. Listen to all genres and be open-minded about the different music that’s out there. You should know what everybody else is doing, even if you don’t like it. Remember that there are going to be incredible highs and devastating losses. Go into the career with your eyes wide open. Figure out what’s your passion and what’s driving it. If it’s in a really deep place, then nurture it. We believe music is a calling and if it’s you calling be persistent, consistent, and dedicated.
